he exposition is on the second floor in The Ikonomova House.
It presents a rich collection of icons from the middle ages and The national Revival, painted in the period of 17-19th century. They have been collected from churches in the Dryanovo region. The images were painted by icon artists from the school of Tryavna or by masters, who had similar with their esthetical art principles. Some of them are Yoanikii papa Vitanov, Dosyu Koyuv, Petar and Georgi Krastevi, Gencho Filipovich and Daskal Zahariya
By this exposition you can see the trend of the ideological and creative development of the icon-painting in the region, as well as the transition to the contemporary urban art. The early patterns follow the Byzantine painting tradition. Gradually the traditional superstitions take advantage, destroying the iconographic principles. The colours become brighter, landscape-paintings appeared on the background, flocks of sheep and shepherds in the Bulgarian traditional costume, ordinary people in casual clothes. The saints became more earthly, looking like alive people. The early icons presenting scenes of Jesus’s suffering, "St. St. Georgi and Dimitar Warriors" – in a wooden carved frame, "St. St. Zosim and Mariya Egyptian" attract the attention.
Most of the creations are made by masters of the school from Tryavna, who had been working in 19th century, and by masters who had the similar points of view as the other creators.
