he Municipality of Dryanovo is disposed in the central part of the foremountain Predbalkana ) in 248,50 sq.km deeply transected relief and from 180 to 640 m. above sea level.
The beautiful mountain slopes are covered with mixed deciduous forests and between the slopes and the rocks smoothly flow Dryanovska River and Yantra River. The climate in the region is moderate continental with a mild winter and a cool summer, too good for recreation and tourism during all the seasons. It is situated around 300 m. above sea level. The municipality is a part of the administrative region of Gabrovo.
The municipality is consisted of the town of Dryanovo and 62 small settlements.
The town of Dryanovo is easy of access by the main transport connections of North and South Bulgaria: the railroad Rousse – Podkova and the highway Rousse – Stara Zagora. Dryanovo is located 22 km away from the city of Gabrovo with its ethnographical complexes, 24 km away from the medieval Bulgarian capital – the city of Veliko Tarnovo, 17 km away from the town of Tryavna with its architectural ensembles of the Bulgarian national revival and 34 km away from the town of Sevlievo, the old Hotalich. The population of the municipality is around 11000. In the region of Dryanovo have been found one of the oldest trails of life in the Balkan peninsula – in the "Bacho Kiro" cave. The second Bulgarian kingdom is tightly related with the Dryanovo region. From this past time date the ruins of the medieval fortresses "Grada", "Boruna", "Lipovo gradishte" and other. The town of Dryanovo is founded in 1470, but nearby the present town there was a settlement in 11th -12th century.

The first imported umbrella in Bulgaria was brought to Dryanovo in the end of 19th century. |
